trying to setup spacenavigator [debian 64bit]

spacenavigator setup for secondlife viewer, and firestorm 32bit sl version (64 bit did NOT work)
based on:
https://blog.tausys.de/2015/07/23/linux-mint-17-secondlife-und-3dconnexion-space-navigator/

created a new rule:
sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/99-spacenavigator.rules
with the content:
KERNEL=="event[0-9]*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c626", SYMLINK+="input/spacenavigator", GROUP="plugdev", MODE="664"

apply udevadm trigger:
udevadm trigger
sudo udevadm trigger

check if it worked: #you should find a file called spacenavigator
cd /dev/input
ls

check input from spacenavigator when you use it:
cat /dev/input/spacenavigator #to test if there is data transmitted

i was able to see the transmitted data.

your setup for secondlife is now done.

remove this driver:
sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/99-spacenavigator.rules
sudo udevadm trigger

Do NOT install the following drivers if you want to use the spacenavigator for secondlife
create a folder for the project:
mkdir -p ~/Downloads/3dxware/
cd ~/Downloads/3dxware/

download the driver “3dxware-linux-v1-8-0.x86_64.tar.gz” from 3dconnexion to the folder ~/Downloads/3dxware/:
http://www.3dconnexion.com/service/drivers.html

install software:
sudo apt-get install libxm4 #that fixed a bug like: error while loading shared libraries: libXm.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

unpack the archive and run the install script:
cd ~/Downloads/3dxware/
tar -xf 3dxware-linux-v1-8-0.x86_64.tar.gz
sudo ./install-3dxunix.sh

start the driver:
sudo /etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv -d usb
or for no output:
sudo /etc/3DxWare/daemon/3dxsrv -d usb /dev/null 2>&1

start the xcube example file:
~/Downloads/3dxware/xcube #quit it with Ctrl + C
now you can test your spacenavigator on the example application xcube.

remove it:
sudo rm -r /etc/3DxWare
sudo rm -r ~/Downloads/3dxware

sadly i got no other software running, only the example application.

another test:
sudo apt-get install libsdl2-dev
#sudo pip install spnav
sudo apt-get install spacenavd libspnav0
sudo spacenavd -v -d
